If you are trying to decide what to do next in your life, if you are upset about a particular situation, looking for alternative paths forward, unsure about your preferred futures, eager to transform your inner story and overcome blockages to achieve what you want, then this course is for you.

My name is Sohail Inayatullah and I am the first UNESCO Chair in Futures Studies. In my 40 years as a futurist, I have helped countless individuals and organizations around the world to create transformative strategies 5, 10, 20, 30 years into the future.

In this online course, the only course of its kind, you will learn how to map your personal future between the tensions of the past, present, and future. You will learn how to create alternative future scenarios opening up new opportunities and possibilities for your life using scenario planning tools. And finally, you will learn how to uncover and transform the narratives and stories that hold you back from realizing your preferred future.

Let's get started.

What people are saying...

Cherie Minniecon, Educator and Facilitator

The first time I did CLA I was about to give birth to my second child... I was in transition and I wasn't having the best or most constructive thoughts. I was thinking about what kind of future am I bringing this child into? What future do I want to try and create for this child? CLA helped me unpack the thoughts that were at the front of my mind at that time... and transform them. What's powerful about that method is it made me have a much more holistic and realistic approach to my future. It made me feel like it was something I could really achieve, and I am achieving.

Sérgio Brodsky, Brand and Foresight consultant

Hard work and luck allowed me to enjoy an international career. In fact, three different careers internationally. I actually felt that this was more about the circumstances and opportunities presented than having myself determine the journey I wanted to take. That was until I came across CLA where I learned about the underlying metaphors that were driving the paths that I have been taking in my life. The shift happened when I realized I no longer had to be Abraham as a metaphor; the one who went against the entire world to defend his belief, but more like one of the Avengers where I had to assemble other like-minded people to join the journey that I wanted for myself. That was the great revelatory moment that I had with CLA, and allowed me to pursue the career that I have today.

Rob Burke, Business Director & Futurist

Before I did the exercise, I always saw myself as someone who had to achieve, someone who had to be important, someone who had to work hard in order to achieve the things that were necessary. This had worked to a certain extent. I had been a CEO of a multinational company, I was able to transfer into the University world... My metaphor for life at that stage was to be a somebody. But what I discovered was that was not that important to me really. My metaphor was I was happy to be a nobody, free from attachments. What I really wanted to have was freedom. Freedom to express myself the way I felt like it, freedom to be close to my family and my friends, to be able to love and be loved. I didn't have to live life for somebody else, I could live it for me.
